Community Grants Scheme 2019/20



Mutley Baptist Church is celebrating its £150th birthday this year. Compton Cllrs would like to give £150 each to support its mission work. Funds will be used to renovate outside courtyard area for the community.


Plymouth Centre for Faiths & Cultural Diversity provides children with the opportunity to meet people of different faiths and cultures and learn first-hand about their life practices allowing them to gain a greater understanding, respect and tolerance for ways of life that are not families to them. This funding will help to ensure their work continues in the Compton Ward and across Plymouth.




Contribution to the Mutley Plain Community Wreath Project, which will be made by members of the community and displayed in the shops. The grant will support the purchase of materials, room hire and refreshments.




Funding to support the Plymouth Special Olympics Mayflower 400 Commemorative Games and the athletes competing.


Donation to Plymouth Drake Foundation to help veterans in the Compton Ward with life after being in the forces.

Dash of Silver Male Cancer Awareness Charity. This charity provides Dash Care Packs to patients undergoing treatment, they also run a cancer support group Dashnet to help patients undergoing treatment for cancer. This donation will benefit the whole of the City helping towards giving patients the best possible care that they deserve




Estover Youth Centre - "Come Dine With Me" Experience - to educate on the nutritional value of food and fight obesity.


Donation to the Drake Foundation - To fight childhood poverty in the city


To help the Elm Centre to provide Christmas lunches for residents to meet and socialise over the festive period.


To purchase equipment for up to 10 volunteers litter picking for Moorview Ward to keep it clean and tidy


Providing sports equipment to encourage young people to enjoy team sports at ELM United, Moor View.




To contribute towards the redecoration of the main hall at The Mainstone Community Centre to benefit the local community and groups who use it.


To hire a mini bus for a week taking local young people away to mix, improve confidence, life skills and explore new areas in the summer. 


To purchase a Defibrillator for the residents of Glenholt which will be located at the shops in St Anne's Road,




Purchase and installation of 2 park benches in Estover (Miller Way Park)
