Elections Review 2003

In 2002 a special Overview and Scrutiny Panel was set up to look specifically at Polling District Boundaries and a number of recommendations were made as a result, including that further work be undertaken on the elections process as a whole in order to improve the local voting system. These recommendations were implemented at the 2003 City Council elections.

Following the City Council 2003 elections, a Community Well-Being Overview and Scrutiny Select Pairing carried out a review of procedures and related matters which included comments from –
* political parties
* elected representatives
* candidates
* election agents
* voters
* officers

A final scrutiny report, including findings and recommendations, was submitted to the Overview and Scrutiny Commission and the City Council in March 2004.
