To deal with any business deferred from the last meeting

On the 23 September 2022, a decision was made by the Panel to defer the recruitment to the position of the interim Section 151 Officer to this meeting. One candidate had been selected for interview which would be completed in part two of the meeting. 

 

The Permanent recruitment to the Section 151 Officer would commence in October 2022.

Exempt Business

To consider passing a resolution under Section 100(4) of the Local Government Act, 1972 to exclude the press and public from the meeting for the following items of business on the grounds that they involve the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraphs 1, 2 and 4 of Part I of Schedule 12A of the Act, as amended by the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Andy Ralphs, Strategic Director of Customer and Corporate Services presented this item to the Panel and advised that there had been one expression of interest due to the current Section 151 Officer, Brendan Arnold resigning from the post which will take effect on 3 October 2022. This has been a critical role for the Authority given the financial context it had been working towards.

 

The permanent recruitment to the Section 151 Officer would commence in October 2022.

 

Following an interview with the candidate, the Panel agreed unanimously to the appointment of David Northey to the role of Interim Section 151 Officer subject to Cabinet and Full Council agreement and the necessary pre-employment checks.
