Minutes:

Councillor Stevens introduced the debate on the impact on Plymouth following the announcement that Parliament will be prorogued.

Councillor Stevens highlighted the concerns for Plymouth and its preparedness as a port city given the very short window between the return on Parliament on 14 October and the potential withdrawal from the European Union on 31 October 2019.

As an announcement was made by the Government earlier in the day on 09 September that Parliament was to be prorogued from 10 September until the Queen’s Speech on 14 October, the motion was withdrawn. Per the Constitution, the Lord Mayor then closed the meeting as there was no further business.
