The committee agreed to appoint Councillor Partridge as the Vice Chair for this particular meeting.

Chair's Urgent Business

To receive reports on business which, in the opinion of the Chair, should be brought forward for urgent consideration.

There were no items of Chair’s urgent business.

Appeal Cases

The Committee will be provided with the results of the judgement on appeal cases that went to Court.

The committee noted that there had been no new appeal cases since the last meeting.

Exempt Information

To consider passing a resolution under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act, 1972 to exclude the press and the public from the meeting for the following items of business, on the grounds that they involve the likely disclosure of exempt information, as defined in paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act, as amended by the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Minutes:

Agreed that under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act, 1972 to exclude the press and the public from the meeting for the following items of business, on the grounds that they involve the likely disclosure of exempt information, as defined in paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act, as amended by the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Minutes:

The committee agreed that the confidential minutes of the meeting held on 10 June 2021 are confirmed as a correct record.

17.

Application for the Grant of a Private Hire Driver Licence

The Director of Public Health will submit a report on the application for the grant of a Private Hire Driver Licence.

Minutes:

The committee –

 

(a)

considered the report from the Director for Public Health;

 

 

(b)

heard from the taxi driver and his representative;

 

 

(c)

took the following into consideration -

the policy as detailed in the report;

all that was said by the applicant and his representative.

 

The committee agreed that it is satisfied that the applicant is a fit and proper person and would therefore grant the application for a private hire driver’s licence. This is subject to the applicant completing the Plymouth Ambassador course and VRQ in Transporting Passengers by Taxi and Private Hire or equivalent qualification within 12 months of being granted a licence.

Application for the Grant of a Private Hire Driver Licence

The Director of Public Health will submit a report on the application for the grant of a Private Hire Driver Licence.

Minutes:

The committee -

considered the report from the Director for Public Health;

heard from the applicant and his representative;

 

 

(c)

took the following into consideration -

The committee agreed that it is satisfied that the applicant is a fit and proper person and would therefore grant the application for a Private Hire Vehicle driver’s licence. This was subject to the applicant completing the Plymouth Ambassador course and VRQ in Transporting Passengers by Taxi and Private Hire or equivalent qualification within 12 months of being granted a licence.
