There were no items of Chair’s urgent business.

APPEAL CASES

The Committee will be provided with the results of the judgement on appeal cases that went to Court.

Minutes:

The committee was advised that there had been no new appeal cases since the last committee meeting.

LICENSED PRIVATE HIRE DRIVER REVIEW OF LICENCE STATUS - C E SAVU pdf icon PDF 6 KB

The Director for Community Services will submit a report on a licensed driver review of licence status.

Minutes:

The committee having –

 

(a)

considered the report from the Director for Community Services;

 

(b)

heard from Mr Savu; 

 

(c)

 

taken into account that –

 

 

?

on 23 May 2010 following an accident in Romania Mr Savue had his driver’s licence suspended for 90 days;

 

 

?

the above had not resulted in a conviction in a court of law and had been dealt with by the police;

 

Agreed that taking all the above into account the decision is to issue a warning on this occasion which is to remain on file and will be brought to members’ attention should Mr Savu appear before the committee in the future.

EXEMPT INFORMATION

To consider passing a resolution under Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972 to exclude the press and public from the meeting for the following item(s) of business on the grounds that it (they) involve(s) the likely disclosure of exempt information as defined in paragraph(s) 3 and 7 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Act, as amended by the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Minutes:

Agreed that under Section 100(A)(2) and (4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public are excluded from the meeting for the following items of business on the grounds that they involve the likely disclosure of confidential/exempt information as defined in paragraph 4 of Part 1 Schedule 12A of the (Local Government Access to Information) Act 1985, as amended by the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

LICENSED HACKNEY CARRIAGE DRIVER APPLICATION FOR EXEMPTION - MC (E3 AND E7)

The Director for Community Services will submit a report on alicensed hackney carriage driver application for exemption.

Minutes:

The committee heard that MC was unable to attend this meeting and agreed to consider this matter at the next meeting in January 2011.

LICENSED PRIVATE HIRE DRIVER REVIEW OF LICENCE STATUS - PFC (E3 AND E7)

The Director for Community Services will submit a report on a licensed driver review of licence status.

Minutes:

The committee heard that PFC’s solicitor had requested an adjournment in order to properly prepare for this hearing.

 

Agreed that this matter is adjourned until the next committee in January 2011 and PFC is informed that if he did not attend the meeting the matter would proceed on that date in any event.

LICENSED PRIVATE HIRE DRIVER REVIEW OF LICENCE STATUS - RVM (E3 AND E7)

The Director for Community Services will submit a report on a licensed driver review of licence status.

Minutes:

The committee having considered the report of the Director for Community Services, agreed to adjourn this matter to allow a copy of the police log to be obtained and considered by councillors.

LICENSED PRIVATE HIRE DRIVER REVIEW OF LICENCE STATUS - RMD (E3 AND E7)

The Director for Community Services will submit a report on a licensed driver review of licence status.

Minutes:

The committee having –

 

(a)

considered the report from the Director for Community Services;

 

(b)

heard from RMD;

 

(c)

heard details of RMD’s conviction.

 

Agreed that RMD’s private hire driver’s licence is suspended for a total of six days.

LICENSED HACKNEY CARRIAGE DRIVER REVIEW OF LICENSE STATUS - KH (E3 AND E7)

The Director for Community Services will submit a report on a licensed hackney carriage driver review of licence status.

Minutes:

The committee having –

 

(a)

considered the report from the Director for Community Services;

 

(b)

heard from KH and his representative Mr Hamilton;

 

(c)

heard details of KH’s conviction.

 

Agreed that KH’s hackney carriage driver’s licence is suspended for a period of three days.
