Plymouth City Council - ePetition details
Glenholt play park condition
Younger children can’t play here safely: the ground has
holes, overgrowing grass and is uneven.
There isn’t a climbing frame for younger children or a slide.
The frame that is there has parts that are loose or rotting or
unsafe. The sand pit sand has almost gone.

Council response
Thank you for your petition.
We are currently undertaking our audit of all playgrounds in
Plymouth, which will provide information of parks that need
upgrading or partial improvements. This will provide evidence for a
business case for future funding.
Playgrounds are inspected on a weekly basis and every 6 months have
a comprehensive inspection by our qualified team of playground
inspectors. Any defects are reported through our internal system
and risk assessed for repair in order of priority.
When this park was installed, a slide was not part of the design.
This is something we will consider in the audit.
The team have recently completed some work within the sandpit due
to the intrusion of bamboo. This was removed and the sandpit was
made slightly smaller. The sand within the pit is topped up twice a
year, and the first top up of this year is due imminently.
Following your petition, the playground grass cutting team have
been tasked to provide a detailed report of the condition of the
park when they next attend, so that we can make the necessary
repairs.
We work very closely with outside organisations, along with staff
from Plymouth City Council who will be repainting some of our parks
this spring and summer. Glenholt park is on the priority list.
Thank you for raising the petition, and we hope this response
provides some helpful clarity.
