Information to be considered by the decision makers: The Department for Transport DfT is currently consulting with local authorities on the proposal that local authorities can claim 60% of eligible preparation costs with an upper limit of £850,000, but only after the scheme is granted full approval. The financial implications to the Council on this basis, is that 40% of eligible costs will have to be funded by the local authority and that all preparation costs will need to be funded by the local authority up until full approval is granted.
