What do they do?

The Growth Board is private sector led and steers the city’s local economic strategy which has identified key strengths where Plymouth is performing well and has the potential to capitalise further. These are advanced manufacturing, marine and renewables, creative industries, tourism and leisure, health and medical and business services.

The PGB has overseen a revision of the action plans surrounding the Local Economic Strategy to ensure they better reflect the economic landscape we are working in as well as the organisations that remain to deliver activities.

The new board will drive and oversee implementation of the Local Economic Strategy for Plymouth and link in to the emerging Local Enterprise Partnership currently being developed.

The Board is supported by a number of working groups including:

·         Economic Intelligence Sub Group

·         Employment Sub Group

·         Priority sector coordination/Employment Skills

·         Jobs Task Force

Powers

A key focus of the Growth Board in 2013/14 will be overseeing the refresh of the Local Economic Strategy.
