Summary of Terms of Reference

 

Plymouth Charity Trust is governed by a scheme sealed on 11th June 1999. This scheme superseded all previous ones and amalgamated Hele’s Almshouse Charity, Lanyon Almhouse Charity and Plymouth Relief in Need Charity.

 

Objectives

 

The objectives are as defined in the Charity Commission Scheme dated 11/6/99 and shall be to carry on, for the benefit of the community, the business of:

 

  1. Providing, constructing, improving or managing housing and any associated land, buildings, amenities and other assets which from time to time may be owned or controlled by Plymouth Charity Trust for persons of good character resident in the City of Plymouth who are in need.

 

  1. Administering, investing, controlling and protecting all funds and other assets which from time to time may be the responsibility of the Plymouth Charity Trust and making grants and donations to provide relief for persons resident in the City of Plymouth who are in need, hardship or distress.

 

3.  Acting as Trustees, Secretaries, Agents, Collectors and Managers for the purposes defined in (1) and (2) above.
