Minutes:
Councillor Evans OBE introduced the nomination of Mark Shayer, Ian Tuffin and Eddie Rennie to receive the title of Honorary Alderman status. The motion was seconded by Councillor Andy Lugger.
Commiserations were passed on due to the recent deaths of Eddie Rennie and Johnny Morris.
Councillors Aspinall, Penberthy, P. Nicholson and Stevens contributed in recognition of the late Eddie Rennie, as well as offering congratulations for the nomination of the status of Honorary Alderman to both Mark Shayer and Ian Tuffin.
Council agreed that, in pursuance of its powers under Section 249(1) of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council confer on Mark Shayer, Ian Tuffin and Eddie Rennie the title of ‘Honorary Alderman’ in recognition of services to the Council during the period when they were elected members.

Minutes:
Councillor Evans OBE introduced the nomination of Mrs Susan McDonald to receive the title of Honorary Alderwoman status. The motion was seconded by Councillor Andy Lugger.
Council agreed unanimously that, in pursuance of its powers under Section 249(1) of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council confers on Mrs Susan McDonald, the title of Honorary Alderwoman in recognition of services to the Council of the said City during the period when they were a Member of the Council.
The Lord Mayor, on behalf of Council, offered his congratulations to Mrs Susan McDonald, who accepted her medal and scroll and gave a short speech.

Councillor Hulme joined the meeting at 1.43 pm.
Councillor Evans OBE introduced the nomination of Mr Jonathan Drean, Mrs Lynda Bowyer and Mr George Wheeler to receive the title of Honorary Alderman status and for Mrs Vivien Pengelly to receive the title of Honorary Alderwoman post humorously. The motion was seconded by Councillor Andy Lugger.
Following contributions from Councillors Mahony, Hulme and Stoneman the Council agreed unanimously that, in pursuance of its powers under Section 249(1) of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council conferred on Mr Jonathan Drean, Mrs Lynda Bowyer, Mr George Wheeler and Mrs Vivien Pengelly, the title of Honorary Alderman/Alderwoman in recognition of their eminent services to the Council of the said City during the period when they were a Members of the Council.
Councillor Tofan joined the meeting at 1.55 pm
The Lord Mayor, on behalf of Council, offered his congratulations to Mr Jonathan Drean, Mr George Wheeler, who accepted their medals and scrolls and gave short speeches.

Appointment of Honorary Aldermen
To pass the following resolution – HONORARY ALDERMEN That in pursuance of its powers under Section 249(1) of the Local Government Act 1972, the Council confers on Mr Brian Vincent, past Member of Plymouth City Council, the title of Honorary Alderman in recognition of his eminent services to the Council of the said City during the period when he was a Member of the Council.
Unfortunately, as the nominee passed away during the 2022/23 Municipal Year, the honour is recommended to be awarded posthumously as a tribute and a mark of respect to Mr Vincent’s family.
(Section 249 of the Local Government Act 1972 provides that the foregoing honour may be conferred by resolution of the Council passed by not less than two thirds of the members voting thereon at a meeting specially convened for the purpose.)
