General

The Council has appointed the following Area Committees:-

·        Budshead, Ham, Honicknowle and St. Budeaux

·        Compton, Efford and Mount Gould

·        Drake, Stoke and Trelawny

·        Eggbuckland, Estover And Southway

·        Keyham, Sutton and St. Peter

·        Plympton (Comprising Plympton Erle and Plympton St. Mary)

·        Plymstock (Comprising Plymstock Dunstone and Plymstock Radford)

Members of Area Committees

The Membership of each Area Committee shall comprise all the Councillors for all the Wards covered by each Area Committee together with such non-voting co-opted members as shall be appointed being residents or residents representatives for this area.

Terms of Reference

Insofar as matters directly relate to the Wards covered by the Area Committee:

(1)

To recommend to the Portfolio Holder the determination of issues relating to:

(i) Street Naming and Numbering and

(ii) Traffic Orders and Highway matters

(2)

To make decisions on such other matters as shall from time to time be delegated to Area Committees by Council or the Executive.

(3)

To be consulted upon, and have their views considered, in relation to the preparation of corporate plans for the provision of works, goods or services, for example programmes of highways works, children’s playground refurbishment and street cleansing/refuse collection work programmes and/or specifications.

(4)

To be notified of annual delegated spending plans including playgrounds and bidding arrangements.

(5)

To act as a consultee for planning applications.

(6)

To consider the public on issues of importance for the area of the Committee and make recommendation to the Executive or other relevant Committee or officer.
